Used Crathern & Smith HNS Automatic Rigid Box Wrapping Line (1998)

Complete five-module industrial line for the production of rigid boxes (set-up boxes), built around the American Crathern & Smith HNS wrapper with the Italian Perondi IA-5060 gluer and the Thermoplastic Quad Stayer RS-2 corner stayer. The line is available in Śrem, Poland, ready for inspection and collection.

The installation converts flat board blanks into a finished rigid box in one continuous cycle: board feeding, corner staying with thermoplastic tape, glue application on the decorative wrap, optical positioning of the shell on the glued sheet, and final wrapping with the paper edges turned inside on all four sides.

How the Line Works

• Board feeding: the Stokesfeed HF vertical magazine stacks flat board blanks and feeds them one by one into the cycle.
• Corner staying: the Quad Stayer RS-2 raises the four walls and joins all four corners with thermoplastic paper tape, giving the shell its rigidity.
• Gluing and positioning: the Perondi IA-5060 applies an even glue film to the decorative wrap paper, and the PA 600 spotter places the board shell on the glued sheet using optical sensors and pneumatic stops.
• Wrapping: the HNS wrapper presses the assembly into the forming die, turns the paper edges inside on four sides and smooths the surface.

Condition and History

The line comes from a Polish rigid box packaging plant and is being replaced by a new installation, which is why it is offered as a complete set at a price below its current market value. All five modules are present and documented: the nameplates of the HNS wrapper (SN 2523), the Quad Stayer RS-2 (SN 2218) and the Perondi IA-5060 (SN 013) were photographed on the machine and are included in the gallery.

Maximum box formats are quoted from the manufacturer data and should be confirmed on site with the customer's own cutting die. Viewing and technical inspection are possible by appointment; the line can be collected shortly after the agreement.

Applications

Rigid box production for premium packaging: cosmetics and perfumes, spirits and wine, jewellery, watches and leather goods, consumer electronics, board games, puzzles, albums and gift sets. The line is aimed at packaging printers, bookbinders and converters running medium and high volumes of set-up boxes.

Price: PLN 80,000 net (EXW Śrem, Poland). Market value of the complete five-module line is estimated at approximately PLN 165,000 – the price reflects the seller's planned line replacement and the required quick collection.
